At Cyherbia Botanical Park, this time of year invites us to slow down, step outdoors, and reconnect with seasonal food and long-held traditions.

This February, we welcome you to two experiences that naturally belong together: Wild Greens of Cyprus and our annual Green Monday celebration.

Wild Greens of Cyprus

For generations, wild greens have been a cornerstone of Cypriot winter cuisine. Found in fields, roadsides and gardens, these plants offered nourishment, resilience and seasonal balance. During Wild Greens of Cyprus, we explore this living knowledge in a grounded, accessible way.

What this experience focuses on:

• Edible wild greens commonly found in Cyprus during winter
• How to recognise and respect wild plants in their natural environment
• Traditional uses of wild greens in everyday Cypriot cooking
• Nutritional value and how these plants support seasonal wellbeing
• Simple, practical ways to bring wild greens into modern meals

This is a calm, educational experience rooted in observation, conversation and shared learning. It’s ideal for anyone curious about local food heritage, herbal knowledge, or reconnecting with what grows naturally around us.

Green Monday at Cyherbia

Green Monday marks the beginning of Lent and has long been associated with open skies, plant-based food and outdoor gatherings. At Cyherbia, the day is celebrated in a way that feels true to its origins — outdoors, unhurried and shared.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy:

• Traditional vegan buffet open at 12:00
• Traditional outdoor games for children and adults
• Kite flying, a timeless Green Monday tradition
• Activities spread across the gardens, woodland and maze
• A relaxed atmosphere that encourages exploration and togetherness
